Ministry Week

Ministry Week is designed to give encouragement, inspiration, and instruction for Anabaptist Church Leaders to help build their home congregations by equipping them to be compassionate and wise in pastoral care, church administration, and Biblical preaching.  The classes are designed for those in leadership and their wives, but we welcome anyone who serves in the Church to apply.  Our goal is to provide a time of rest and rejuvenation along with theological and practical teaching.  Each day will include prayer time together, and we’re very excited about that!  We’re also looking forward to the conversations and fellowship as we learn from each other!

Schedule

Check-in at Waitts Lake Bible Camp by Noon on Tuesday, March 24th and Dismissal at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 27th.  Meals will be provided.

Class Descriptions:

How to Handle Conflict in the Church and in the Ministry

Because we are limited in our perspective and sometimes because we are not yet mature, we have conflict. Differences are not all bad. They are actually necessary in the body of Christ and in healthy teamwork. In these sessions we will explore different kinds of conflict, some of the main causes of unhealthy conflict, and principles for resolving conflict. And in each session, we will explore what we can learn from biblical examples. - John Coblentz

Sermon Preparation & Delivery

Preaching is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable parts of being a minister.  It can be one of the most frustrating and agonizing parts, as well.  A well-prepared and delivered sermon is like a full course meal; appetizing, nourishing, and life-giving.  Preparation is important but so is the presentation.  We will unpack practical ways to make your study time more meaningful, your preparation effective, and your delivery convincing and convicting.  Looking forward to learning together!  - Stephan Gingerich

Mission and Ministry in Acts of the Apostles

How can we sharpen our reading of the book of Acts in order to better embody the story, identity and mission of the people of God? What were some of the foundational convictions of the apostolic church, and what subliminal tensions accompanied those convictions? Who were some of the “quiet” people of Acts, and in what ways did they cement the “great” events of this book together? Throughout our review of this important text, our overall goal will be to explore the relevance of Kingdom perspectives and the image of ecclesial faithfulness within our own specific contexts. - Steven Overholt

Foundations of Anabaptist Theology

You cannot support Anabaptist Practices on an Evangelical Theological Foundation.  As a former Baptist Pastor, I will examine the Foundational Theological beliefs about Christ and His Kingdom that changed everything for me. There’s a real need to defend the Faith, and I’m looking forward to digging into this subject with you.  – Jonathan Kinner

Ladies Sessions by Barbara Coblentz

Cultivating healthy relationships between ministry team wives

Each of us as women bring our unique blend of gifts/passion to a team. Sometimes those differences “grate” instead of nurture and bless.  We want to learn ways of embracing our diversity rather than allowing it to divide and irritate.

Staying in love with a busy husband

Sometimes it seems all his energy/time is going to others.  What are our knee-jerk responses and what are healthy responses?  How can I be involved in his world so that I don’t feel it as a rival?
